Please note: These are the norms for candidates for seminary studies for the Archdiocese of Louisville. Some exceptions are possible.
Initial Requirements
- Catechized in a general manner.
- Evidence of a prayer life.
- Belongs to a parish.
- Participates at least weekly in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
- Regular Reception of the Sacrament of Penance.
- Desire to grow in holiness in preparation to be a holy priest and spiritual father as a pastor.
- Fundamental sense of the Church's mission and a generous willingness and enthusiasm to promote it.
- Sensitivity to the needs of others and a desire to respond to them.
- Willingness to initiate action and assume a position of pastoral leadership for the good of individuals and communities.
